Christine Göttler is Professor emerita of Art History at the Institut für Kunstgeschichte, Universität Bern. Her research interests concern historical aspects of early modern artists’ materials, collecting practices, the art of early modern Antwerp in its global context, and the imagery of landscapes. She has co-edited and contributed to "Materialized Identities in Early Modern Culture, 1450–1750: Objects, Affects, Effects" (ed. with Susanna Burghartz, Lucas Burkart, and Ulinka Rublack) and is currently working on a book manuscript entitled "Silver, Salt, and the Sea: Peter Paul Rubens and the Global World of Early Seventeenth-Century Antwerp".
